I was reading the news online and came across this. It told about how Hillary was booed by an ”emotional audience of party liberals” because she didn’t endorse a definite date for troop withdrawal from Iraq - and John Kerry was cheered because he did. Here is a quote from Hillary:
“Sometimes this is a difficult conversation, in part because this administration has made our world more dangerous than it should be,” she said.
Yea, that’s right.  The people who make the world dangerous are not the Muslims who fly planes into buildings in order to kill as many Americans as possible or who plant roadside bombs in order to kill as many Iraquis and Coalition forces as possible, and who are beheading, bombing and shooting innocents every day. It’s Bush who is doing something to stop them. I continue to be amazed at how some people blame Bush for anything and everything.

It seems to me a legitimate issue for a discussion in a democracy with a Congressional election coming up this year: Have Bush’s efforts tended to encourage or discourage terror? Do we need a change of strategy?
At least 13 well-known generals believe we need a change of strategy. Most of them seem to think Bush’s strategy is not working, i.e. has made the world more dangerous. Does that mean they are “blaming Bush for Terrorism”?

A legitimate issue for discussion also would be how much the democrats have thwarted the war efforts with their constant criticism and roadblocks. Seems to me THAT is what makes the world more dangerous. They have virtually bound the hands of our president and our soldiers. This war would have been over by now most likely if such whackos as Al Franken, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan and Murtha weren’t going around drumming up antiwar frenzies.

The world is more dangerous because the terrorists are bolder BECAUSE they know we’ve got such a strong anti-war lobby here in the United States. They think that if they can outlast us, the US doesn’t have the strength of character or the perseverance to fight this war to win. They hear Murtha and Sheehan and Moore and Franken and all the other liberals telling us to give up. They can keep the pressure up with their beheadings and terrorism and they believe the US will give up. I’m sure if Gore or Kerry had won their respective elections, the war would be fought differently - and we’d be even closer to losing our precious freedoms - and the people in Iraq would still be under Saddam’s thumb. I thank God every day that George Bush won both those elections. I shudder to think what would happen to the US if Gore or Kerry were president.

Hilary is right. And Bush deserves to be blamed.
Going back to BOTB now.
You lose.

The depth and rationale of your argument, Stephanie, boggles the mind.

I’ve got a couple of bones to pick about your last comments (not the one to steph)
1) “and we’d be even closer to losing our precious freedoms” Reading between the lines, this is a ridiculous statement, and an affront to every American. Why? Because you assume that were the Muslims to invade this country, that we would do absolutely nothing to stop them…that everyone in this country would allow them to take over. I swear, if I hear this phrase once more out of you Republicans, I’m going to scream because it is the most absurd crap ever.
2) “The world is more dangerous because the terrorists are bolder BECAUSE they know we’ve got such a strong anti-war lobby here in the United States.”
So us “anti-war people” are emboldening the enemy. That’s a crock, and you know it. You’re looking for any excuse, any tag to hang on someone who doesn’t agree with your warped view of the mess in Iraq. Get a clue, please. Al-Qaida hates Americans. ALL Americans. They aren’t going to spare ANYONE based on whether or not they support the village idiot in charge. Like they’re going to take a frickin’ poll before they start mowing us down. Give me a break.
3) “A legitimate issue for discussion also would be how much the democrats have thwarted the war efforts with their constant criticism and roadblocks. Seems to me THAT is what makes the world more dangerous. They have virtually bound the hands of our president and our soldiers. This war would have been over by now most likely if such whackos as Al Franken, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan and Murtha weren’t going around drumming up antiwar frenzies.”
What roadblocks? Bush has asked for, and received, whatever he wanted in regards to the invasion of Iraq. More funds? No problem. More troops? No problem. Congress hasn’t been a roadblock. As far as the anti-war crowd, see #2. The “war” would’ve been over by now? You’re completely out of touch with reality.
I wish people would wake up and smell the coffee…we are NEVER leaving Iraq. We will ALWAYS have a presence there.
Why don’t all you Republicans start talking about the 2,500+ American soldiers who’ve died over there? I visit a lot of conservative blogs and it’s funny how I never seen you people talk about that. Oh wait, that would take precious time away from spewing crap about how the liberals are wrecking this country.

Hi Niteowl - thanks for stopping by and commenting and picking bones.
Actually, I’ve seen LOTS of talk about the American soldiers who’ve died in Iraq on conservative blogs.
I disagree — the anti-war folks ARE making the terrorists bolder and giving them encouragement. A house divided and all that…
And I agree — Al-Qaida hates all Americans - I’ve been preaching that since day one of this blog. They’d just as soon behead Michael Moore as Ann Coulter.

The terrorists are going to do what they want, regardless of the division here. They aren’t going to look at our newscasts, our newspapers, our talk shows and suddenly decide “Hey look, Bush’s poll numbers are down. People over there are protesting. Let’s really get down and dirty.” In fact, I would bet that if this entire country was united and we all walked around like robots with flags in hand in support of everything you stand for, we would see an INCREASE in terrorism.
Terrorism was around long before 9/11. I would go into how our fearless leaders threw their support (and $$) behind the very same terrorists who want to do this country harm right now, but that’s for later discussion.
It seems to be assumed that just because we don’t support the war, we support the terrorists. That’s crazy talk. This isn’t a sporting event. I suppose now we’ll hear that the only people in the streets of New York City who were openly weeping on 9/11 were Republicans and that the Liberals were all cheering.
As far as the house divided…why should I throw my support behind something that I believe is wrong for the sake of not offending someone on the other side or looking like some kind of supposed traitor? This country was built on dissention and the exchange of ideas and different opinions. If there was no dissention back in England in the 1700’s, there would be no America.

Actually someone very near and dear to me and whom I respect a great deal is very anti-war and anti-Bush. I don’t doubt his patriotism at all. I don’t think the anti-war, Anti-Bush crowd are traitors, either. However, I do think they are misguided and are giving the terrorists encouragement. I believe that many liberals’ anger over losing the 2000 election has made them anti-anything concerning Bush. And while most regular old citizens who are anti-war are patriotic and well-meaning, I don’t think the same of the liberal politicians.
