So now RT and I are talking about getting married when we’re in Alaska August 28 - Sept. 6. Just thinking of it. Guess I need to do some research about that. Like, do we need to get a license in Alaska? Who would officiate at the wedding? And I’m not sure I want to mix the wedding in with the trip. RT said that the “new frontier” of Alaska would fit with the “new frontier” of our second wedding.
Wow! I just did a search, and there are all kinds of sites about weddings in Alaska - Alaskan glacier weddings, Alaskan garden weddings . . .

Oh Carol, that sounds SO romantic. If you can work out the details I would go for it!

Thanks Jane and Gaby. We’re still at talking stage - no decision made yet. We hate to spend our limited time in Alaska fooling with driving around to take care of the details like getting the license. However, IF it works out that there’s someone at the lodge where we’re going to stay for three nights who can do the service, we may still do it. We’re staying three nights in Denali, and then before that we’re going to Kodiak Island. Stay tuned . . .

Carol,
I just wrote this and lost it — somehow. I think the idea of an Alaska wedding sound perfect. You want a private, intimate ceremony anyway and it sounds to me like Alaska has special significance in your relationship, too. So, if the logistics are not too daunting, go for it! There is a lot to be said for the ceremony being just you two in a special new place that is all yours!
Wishing you the very best!!

Do they have wedding chapels? You could just drop in and have Elvis marry you …. kinda like Vegas
Sounds romantic and fun……

My “two cents” would say be married on your new home site with you children and pastor there and make Alaska the Honeymoon…
