I keep getting email about emails that have been returned as “undeliverable” - and each time the email in question is from my domain. For example, it might be 6jx02@themediansib.com or 5t43k@themediansib.com - always some random combination of numbers and/or letters followed by my domain name. Obviously someone is sending out spam supposedly from my domain. I double-checked my account and there is only one email account associated with themediansib.com - mine.
I’m definitely NOT knowledgeable about how this works and how to stop it. Any suggestions? I hate for people to be getting spam and thinking it’s from me. I also hate for spammers to be using my domain’s name. Is this a virus? or what?

I don’t know how they do it or how to stop them, but if you find out would you let Daddy or me know? We have a huge problem with people hacking our business domain and end up with 400+ spam emails a day.
Love you!

I’m sorry you’re having to deal with idiot spammers, too, Jess. Spammers are the scum of the earth - not quite as low as the low-life virus-creators - but almost. Even with spam email blockers, I still have to deal with dozens each day - and that doesn’t count all the spam comments. That’s a whole new breed of idiots.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!

There’s nothing you can do about this. This comes from spambots who vaccuum up domains and spit out phony email that spoofs your email address. It not a “hack” because they never really gain access to your email, they just send out email with the “reply to” address listing an address at your domain. Then when an email bounces, you get the bounce notification. One thing you can do to slim down your receipt of these things. You can observe whether the spambots are choosing some weird mailbox at your domain: Like tty@yourdomain.com Then if you see a lot of tty email, you can set your mail preferences or spam filters to filter out tty so at least you don’t see the bounces.

Mom -
I was going to say the same thing that Walker did. They aren’t using your email, but rather somehow the get it to look like it is your domain. We had this same problem at work before we installed some of the new firewall stuff. I don’t really think it is more of a problem other than being really annoying.
Sorry!
