I’m glad the elections are over - glad there won’t be anymore political ads on TV and radio - at least for a couple years.  The same old ads over and over and over. They got old.  I tuned them out weeks ago.

There is one thing I’ll kinda miss, though.  For the past couple weeks, each time the phone would ring, there was a mystery to it.  Who would it be this time?  It seemed that everyone who the candidates felt had some popularity or influence with voters was making automated phone calls plugging their particular candidate.

Rudy Giuliani was my favorite, although my daughter said that Darrell Waltrip’s phone call was the best.  She said he was funny.  I have no idea who “old D.W.” wanted her to vote for, but I’m glad he made the phone call humorous.  I feel a little miffed, though, because I didn’t get a call from D.W.  Didn’t get one from Ashley Judd either, and I heard she called at least a few people I know.

I have to admit that I hung up on Rudy.  The truth is, I hung up on all of them.  Whenever I heard the name and realized it was an automated phone call, I hung up.  The number of calls each day left me wondering, though, if such automated phone calls are effective campaign tools.  Did they change anyone’s mind or maybe inspire someone to get and vote?  Who knows?

So the election is over.  No more phone calls from the bigwigs in politics and show biz.  It was mildly entertaining to talk about getting a phone call from you, Rudy, but I was wrong earlier - I won’t miss you at all.

I never got any of those calls. I’ve never been polled either. Apparently, I’m not in the right demographic group to be of interest for pollsters or celebs trying to get votes.

I did get, surprisingly, 6 or 8 recorded phone calls; even one from the governor himself. I did and always do hang up on all those phone calls, even hung up on Governor Pedue’s …although, I did vote for Pedue.

Another benefit of the ‘no-call’ list. Funny election here in CO. Dems won most every vote but all the admendment issues that were conservative (pro Marriage being just one man and one woman; no - on benefits to same sex couples; no - legalizing pot, etc) all passed. Liberal can make a huge mistake if they misread this victory.
