This picture should have been on every front page newspaper in the country…. maybe then… people would understand why we are there. Awesome photo.

If this was 1944 the picture WOULD have been on the front of every newspaper in the country, described on the radio, made the cover of LIFE magazine, and would now be as famous as the photo of the Navy man kissing the nurse at the end of the war.
