Let's not forget that America launched an illegal war on Iraq on the pretext of weapons of mass destruction and some tenuous link to the 9/11 atrocity. Let's not forget that America's influence in the region is purely to preserve America's military supremacy, and ensure the flow of oil to the most ecologically profligate nation in the world. Let's not forget that these troops had no plan for what would follow after the Iraq invasion, and let's not forget that the invasion has probably been the foremost cause of recruitment to terrorism and the destabilisation of the West. Let's not forget that the cost of this war could have given America the opportunity to be charitable to the rest of the world - to solve many of the world's health and sanitation problems, and build up a positive picture of the Empire. Please examine the news more carefully. You will find a very small ratio of positive reporting about our troops compared to the "news selling" horrific events occuring, which get 98% of the coverage. If you don't see that then you are suffering from the ostrich syndrome.
