Am I the only one that thinks it’s moronic to name the day after Thanksgiving “Black Friday” and the Monday after Thanksgiving “Cyber Monday”? It sounds so idiotic, and all the news folk on TV and radio are so serious about it.

Actually, there’s a reason to the name “Black Friday”. Back in the day (and possibly even still today) the day after Thankgiving marked the point in the year when retailers actually turned a profit (i.e., went from in the “red” to in the “black”). But I’ll agree that “Cyber Monday” is completely moronic.

Phil, I’ve always heard that’s why they call it “Black Friday” - It just sounds stupid to me.
I just wonder if they have increased online sales on “Cyber Monday” by giving it that name. People tend to do what’s expected of them.
