I like all those hymns. "What is your hymn?" reminds me of my frustration with the query "What's your favorite color?" I think sunlight through green leaves is gorgeous, but I don't want my cheese green. That said there are certainly some I especially enjoy. Last Sunday the director shortened "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" to two verses: there should be a law against such outrages! Here are five that raise my spirits when I open the bulletin and find them listed:

"O Young and Fearless Prophet"
"When I Survey the Wondrous Cross"
"Amazing Grace"
"Morning Has Broken"

and, of course, our National Hymn "Oh, Beautiful for Spacious Skies"

Lyn - I really love "It is Well With my Soul." Such a beautiful song and tune.
Denise - I feel the same way about "His Eye is on the Sparrow." I believe I could have chosen either of those songs as easily as "God WilL take Care of You."

Conclusion: We each have MANY hymns!

I enjoyed your post and could relate to it. I feel like I know almost every hymn by heart, and they are what I play best and most on the piano too. "It Is Well With My Soul" is my hymn. It goes along with the assurance in your hymn that God will take care of you. "When peace like a river attendeth my way, When sorrows like sea billows role. Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say, it is well. It is well, with my soul." I love the harmony of the music.
