We are apparently going to war to end terrorism, but to these countries we are the terrorists. We are going to go to war to remove dangerous weapons from the hands of those who would foolishly use them, and we might be willing to use ours in the process. We are going to war to avenge 9-11, that sounds like junior high to me. I understand your views, that is a gift I have. I can look at all sides of an argument. Maybe some of you need to take a look at the other side once in a while. If some of you are right, and some are left, then I’m in the middle.

I agree that democracy is a very good political system. After all, we have it and we are still one country. Technically anyway. I agree that we must disagree, but we can still be united.

First things first, WE ARE AT WAR. No matter what, that is the truth and there is no denying the fact. There also should be no “What ifs”. They don’t help any. We all disagree on the point of whether or not we should stay in the war. I have my own opinion on this one. I think we should help the country get their feet back under them. I know the potential problems with this, but there will be problems with every plan. I also believe that this is no race. It will take a while to do this. We got into this mess, and we have to get out of it.

I agree that Bush has made some mistakes, and I disagree with many of my republican friends, but Bush didn’t start all of this. Bush is a smart man, but not very, in my opinion. He did the best he could under the circumstances, but maybe not the best that could have been done. I refuse to either demolish any good opinion of Bush, or idolize him.

I’ve said alot, probably annoyed a lot of you too. But like I said, I’m still in High School. Try to be a little more open minded towards each other. That is what democracy is about.

However, I don’t think we are the terrorists to the people in Iraq. The vast majority are thankful we are there. It is just the terrorists and the left-wingers who are trying to make it sound like we’re the aggressors.

TMS: If you want me to take you seriously, then respond to what I write and not to your own prejudices about conservatives. You’ve “put words in my mouth” that have never been on TMS. And since you admit that America was hated long before George W. Bush, why do you blame him for that hate? Just curious. I have found myself thinking a lot lately about what I would like to hear the President say tonight in his State of the Union Address. Unfortunately, what I’ve heard in the news about what is expected is simply disappointing.

I was hoping to see the President speak with more strength. I did like his reminder that they did not vote for defeat. The brief comments he made about the war were good - he just needed to say more. I so wish he would quit with the trying to teach Iraq how to be democratic. We need to control the country first - then gradually give it back to them. Germany and Japan are perfect examples that unconditional surrender does actually end the hostilities.

I do understand how illegal immigration issues and the war against jihadists are connected. Both need to be dealt with, with more strength and resolve. But if I disagree with him on immigration doesn’t mean I have to disagree with him on the Battle of Iraq.

I am basically a pacifist. I went through the horror of WWII with a husband and two brothers, friends overseas, War never really solves problems but it our fallen sinful world it seems to be the only solution. But it is a short term solution. Now that we are having a war fought in full view of all of us, we see the horror of it more closely.

Why did your Idol-in-Chief change his rhetoric on Bin Laden from using words like “hunt” to phrases and I quote directly “not that concerned”? Why were 20 members of the Bin Laden family allowed to leave the US(on a charter plane) on Sept 12th when the only other planes flying were military? Why have we committed 7 times the resources to Iraq(v. Afganistan), when Bin Laden is on video gloating over the twin towers collapsing? This isn’t about left v. right. This is about common sense. Are you “not concerned” about the whereabouts of Bin Laden, don’t we owe it to the families of 9-11 to be at least concerned if not rabidly outraged? I don’t have the answers to all these questions, but “something doth stink in Denmark” Carol, Saddam did not attack us, Bin Laden and Co. did. Please drink from the refreshing spring of logic and truth.
