Here are my predictions for who is going home on tonight’s American Idol show:

Guys: 

(1) Sanjaya Malakar - He’s got a nice voice, but he doesn’t have any qualities that make his voice noticeable.  His performance Tuesday night was too subdued - weak and childish.  I wonder who selected his songs because his song choices last week and this week were absolutely awful.  I can’t imagine worse songs for a competition than the ones he sang.

(2) Brandon Rogers - His voice just isn’t good enough, and I can’t even remember what he sang Tuesday night.  Totally forgetable.

Girls:

(1) Antonella Barba - Her voice sounded weak and off-pitch.  She just doesn’t measure up to the standard of excellence of most of the other female singers.  However, her notoriety over the porn photos may have gotten her enough votes to stay another week or two.

(2) Alaina Alexander - Her voice simply isn’t unique.  She sounds like any other good singer in the world.  She’d make a good backup singer.  Wednesday night she just didn’t cut it, and her song choice was the pits.  You’d think she would have selected a song that really showcased her voice.  Instead she chose a controversial song with such negative associations that she immediately alienated half the audience.

Other possibilities: For the girls, I’d say that Haley Scarnato and Leslie Hunt could easily be voted off tonight. For the boys, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nicholas Pedro go home.

My personal favorites are Jordin Sparks and Chris Sligh.

It’ll be interesting to see if I’m right.  I haven’t voted at all yet this season.  I just don’t care enough about any of the performers yet to make the effort to vote. 

Later note:  Well I got one out of four.  However, I don’t think the others I listed will last more than a couple weeks.  Time will tell.
