Thirteen Green Things That I Like
1. Emeralds - RT gave me a beautiful emerald and diamond ring for Christmas. I just love green gemstones.
2. Peridot (my birthstone)
3. Broccoli - especially with cheese sauce on it
4. A fresh salad with a combination of greens - a veritable medley of shades of green
5. My eyes - It may sound vain or silly, but I’ve always loved the fact that my eyes are green. Green eyes are somewhat unique - and I like that. (RT and both my children have brown eyes.)
6. Jade
7. Green enchilada sauce - especially when it’s poured over chicken enchiladas.
8. Kermit the Frog - especially his “Rainbow Connection” song from “The Muppet Movie”
Written by Paul Williams and used by Kermit the Frog, of The Muppets, Jim Henson Productions
Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it’s done so far.
What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.All of us under its spell,
we know that it’s probably magic….Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it.
It’s something that I’m supposed to be.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa
9. Lush green lawns, freshly mown.
10. Drooping, flowing weeping willow branches.
11. Limeade (quick & easy - Sprite or Diet Sprite with a slice of fresh lime in it)
12. The first shoots of jonquils and crocus each spring.
13. Four-leaf clovers. I used to find them all the time. However, it’s been a few years since I’ve had that particular stroke of luck.

I’ve always been glad to have green eyes too. Because they are unusual I guess. All my children (including in-law children) have blue eyes except Turp, and all my Grandchildren have blue eyes except Aggie. We three are the only green-eyed members.

Okay, that song literally makes me cry everytime I hear it. I got misty at the lyrics without the music, damn it, and I’m at work.

Does broccoli with cheese sauce still count as a green thing?
TMS: Of course - as long as a little of the green shows through.
