Where we used to live the church there had a potluck the first Wed. night of every month, and we loved it. We got to know the "regular" dishes and whose they were. One lady made scrumptious chicken and dumplings. Not only were they good in themselves, but that's something I never make, so it was a double treat.

You are so right about all of the chicken casseroles. I like to go around and try them all to see if I can determine all the differences. My own is a combo of my mom's and my mother-in-law's. Hashbrown Casserole is a great casserole. I love it.

Thanks for visiting and wading through my Mom tribute. I had to do it. It was the only way I get through her birthday. :)

Sounds like the homecoming spread at Oak City Assembly of God in Tallahassee 30 years ago -- my granny always brought chicken and dumplins', collards, and Italian cream cake ...

Yeah, all of those sound familiar, only we call the hashbrown casserole "funeral potatoes".

I usually take salad and dressing, or dinner rolls (those are the only thing I have the time and desire for :) ).

Also, when we go to these potlucks, we have to arrive early so we can see who is bringing what. :)

Good T13!

TMS: It might sound bad, but I also look or ask to see who brought what. There are a few people that I just wouldn't eat anything cooked in their kitchens. I'm not a neat freak, but when people don't keep up with basic cleanliness, I get a little squeamish. I don't hurt anyone's feelings - and sometimes I go ahead and put the food on my plate if I think it would be obvious if I didn't. But then I don't really eat it - just push it around my plate and make it look like I tried it.
