Crock Pot Macaroni & Cheese

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

My daughter gave me a recipe for crock pot mac & cheese.  This morning my mother made it for the family reunion we’re having later today.  I just came from the kitchen where I sampled it.  You know it’s important for cooks to sample food to make sure it’s good.  So I was only taking care of my responsibility when I tasted it.  And I am pleased to report that the mac and cheese is FANTASTIC!  Here’s the recipe:

Larisa’s Crock Pot Macaroni & Cheese

16 oz. pkg elbow macaroni - cooked and drained

8 cups shredded sharp cheese

2 cans evaporated milk

3 cups milk

4 eggs, beaten

2 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

Spray crock pot with nonstick spray.  Place noodles in the crock pot.  Set aside one cup of the shredded cheese, and then mix everything else well , and add it to the pot.  Top the mixture with the reserved shredded cheese.  Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours.

Lauren Caitlin Upton, Miss South Carolina Teen USA, Rides Her Blond Moment to Fame

Monday, September 3rd, 2007

The video of the most famous blond moment has already made its rounds on the internet. There was a time when you could say something really stupid and only have to live down the embarrassment till you got off the stage. Now its YouTubed and documented for history and instantaneously is viewed throughout the world.

This was a SERIOUSLY blond moment …..

See video here

See what I mean? )

The poor girl was given a chance to redeem herself on television the next morning. She didn’t do a whole lot better then. Well, at least Caitlin has a sense of humor about it.

Caitlin quote of the week.

Personally, my friends and I, we know exactly where the United States is on our map.

A Year of Wednesday Heroes

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

See the slide show here.

Kathi at Mail Call did the beautiful montage above to commemorate the one year anniversary of Wednesday Heroes.

The idea for Wednesday Heroes started with Indian Chris at Right-wing and Right minded. He says that Greta of Hooah Wife! was a driving force behind it. Greta is a driving force to be reckoned with, so Indian Chris started the Wednesday Hero blogroll! It started out with just a few participants but has grown to quite a large group who post weekly tributes to our heroes, all written by Indian Chris.

You can find more information about the blogroll and how to join yourself at Right-wing and Right Minded.

Happy Belated Birthday to TMS

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

My birthday was last Sunday - August 26th.  I was in a rotten mood on my birthday.  That afternoon I went to my school to do a little work, and I wrote a birthday post from my school computer.  However, since the post reflected my rotten mood, I deleted it.  So now I’m 58 years old.  I remember as a child thinking about the new century and the fact that in the year 2000 I would turn 51 years old.  It was such a distant and unimaginable age, that it seemed too much to even consider.  Then 2000 came, I turned 51, and then 2002, 2003 and so on.  And now I see the age of 60 closing in on me.

Time - and life - passes much too quickly.

For now, though - happy birthday to myself.  May my 59th year of life be a great one!

(P.S. And thanks to everyone who has left me birthday greetings in comments on other posts!)

Visiting my mother (who just happens to have internet access)

Saturday, September 1st, 2007

Ahhh - the joys of actually reading blogs from a computer instead of a Treo.  No reading glasses needed to decipher tiny print.  No scrolling through three or four screens in order to read a brief email.

So who has satellite internet?  I’m so disgusted with BellSouth/AT&T - I don’t even want to consider continuing that sub-par, ridiculously moronically (is that a word?) staffed service when we move to our new house.

Does anyone actually blog from a Treo or Blackberry?  I need to learn how to do that.  Maybe a lot of quick and brief posts would be possible.  I’m beginning to gain a little bit of expertise in typing on those tiny keys.

I’m at my mother’s house for a long weekend.  We’ll have a family reunion on Monday.  I think about 50 - 60 people are expected.   Some family bloggers will be there - Daddy’s Roses, Alone on a Limb, Blue Star Chronicles, Cozy Reader, to name a few.  I don’t think Sleepless Juggler is going to be able to be there.

That means that for a couple days, I can actually blog again!  YEA!  I’ve missed it.  Now to go check my sitemeter and see how many readers I’ve lost in the past couple months of near inactivity.  Sigh.
