I was tagged for this SEO meme by Beth over at Blue Star Chronicles. Now, my first question was, “What in the heck is an SEO meme?” I actually had to google it, and I found that SEO stands for “Search Engine Optimization” or something like that. Then after reading the meme information a little further, I came across the phrase “PR ranking.” Again, I had no idea what PR ranking means. From checking out the results of a Google search for “PR ranking”, it seems that PR means “page rank” which, if you add the word “ranking” afterwards would seem redundant.d By the way, my PR ranking with Google is 0 out of 10. So there’s only one direction it can go - up, right? I don’t think they have page rankings into negative numbers. There are other search engines that do page rankings, but I didn’t check my ranking on anything besides Google. I feel that I’m using the word “rankings” an awful lot in this post.
So, here are the directions for this meme:

Your PR was 4 yesterday. I don’t know where you checked it.
Mine was 5 until sometime yesterday one of the ranking things went to 3 and the other is still at 5. Google has been reworking the system so its gone a little wonky lately. The only reason I noticed it was because PPP changed my status - so apparently they use the system that changed me to 3
I’ll put one of the buttons on your site that gives you your ranking. I thought I already did, but I don’t see it either.

You really don’t want to be participating in this link scam. The first blog that launched it a couple of months ago and several others that picked it up quickly have already been penalized by Google.
While it’s a good idea to link to your own internal posts every now and then to help them stay fresh in search engine indexes, chaining posts from blog to blog like this for the purpose of artificially inflating link value is NOT good SEO Theory.
It’s just link spam and it’s equivalent to playing with fire. Several people have already gotten burned. Don’t join the game.
