Last summer when our family was at the beach, my daughter, daughter-in-law and I went to a Coach outlet. I had never had a Coach purse. The thought of spending several hundred dollars for a purse just seems crazy to me. However, they had some purses that I really liked, and the outlet price was still outrageous but lots better than I had seen in retail stores. So they convinced me to buy one for myself.
The pursue is beautiful, and after a few months of heavy use, it still looks brand new. However, the straps are not quite long enough for me to carry it over my shoulder. That means I have to carry it by the handle or in the crook of my arm. Now RT calls it my “Queen Elizabeth” because he says I look like Queen Elizabeth carrying my purse on my arm everywhere. That rather spoils the enjoyment of having a Coach purse. It doesn’t take long for a word or phrase to become part of one’s vocabulary. ”Queen Elizabeth” is now an established title within our little family. Anytime I’m looking for my purse, I ask “Have you seen my Queen Elizabeth?” And RT will remind me, “Don’t forget your Queen Elizabeth.” Sigh! That just doesn’t fit the image I have of myself.
