I called my doctor’s office a few  minutes ago to see if I could come in sometime today so she could hopefully tell me what is wrong with my neck and give me something to make it stop hurting so bad.  They must be slow on business because she had an appointment open in 15 minutes (couldn’t make it there THAT quickly) and one a little over an hour from now (I can make that one).  So I’ll be seeing the doctor in a little while.  I’ll update later with the official diagnosis.  Here’s my prediction:  a muscle strain - she’ll prescribe a muscle relaxant and possibly a pain killer - and the pain will go away in a few days.

I DID actually sleep a little bit last night.  At one point I got up and came into the great room and sat on the sofa because it was hurting to lie down.  I started to go upstairs and try to sleep in one of the recliners, but I didn’t.

By the way, how do you like the new look for TMS?  I love the colors, and I think Beth did a good job in creating the new header.  I like my TMS collage of my siblings and me.  So I’m glad to have that back.  I think there are still a few more changes coming up soon -but the basics are already in place.

Later:  I’m back from the doctor, and I should apply for a medical license.  The diagnosis:  severe muscle strain - possibly from twisting around to catch the stair handrail when I missed the last step coming down the stairs several days ago.  At the time I was only concerned that I might have hurt my foot.  My neck was already starting to hurt before then, but it really cranked up a few notches after that.  (RT’s comment when it happend, “Now that we’re older, we REALLY have to be careful about not falling.”  Yeah right.)

Prescriptions: a muscle relaxer and a pain killer.  The pain killer is hydrocodone, and the doctor said to only take it before bed since it will likely knock me out.  I just took a pill because I WANT to be knocked out.  I’m so tired from three nights of very little sleep.  I’m hoping I will sleep away the rest of the day - painfree.
