Oh No, Cynthia Nixon let it slip that there will be a death in the upcoming “Sex and the City” movie. Surely they wouldn’t have one of the major characters die. In my opinion the major characters are Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, Samantha, and Mr. Big. Of course I’d hate to see Steve or Smith or Harry die, too. So I’m wondering who it will be.
Here’s the story from MSNBC:
Whatever “Sex and the City’s” Cynthia Nixon was paid for being in the upcoming film version of the hit HBO series, she deserves a raise.
The actress let it slip to host Billy Eichner during the Creation Nation comedy show at the Zipper Theater on Apr. 15 that a character dies in the movie. And in turn, Nixon made the SATC movie - dare we say - interesting.
Nixon refused to divulge who dies, opening the door for the blog world to start positing its own theories.
Well, who will it be? The article goes ont to say that New York magazine predicts it will be Charlotte because they can’t “think of a reason not to kill Charlotte.”
Then the Vulture blog thinks it’ll be Mr. Big.
I don’t think they’ll kill off any of the four main characters. However, I think the Mr. Big prediction could be true. They’ve already established that he has a heart condition. While the ending of the television show was romantic (”Carrie, you’re the one.”), that relationship between Carrie and Mr. Big was always full of angst. So it might not be good for Carrie in the long run. Having a typical “and everybody lived happily ever after” movie ending would not be particularly satisfying. So a death could provide the tear-jerking emotional investment for the audience that would make the movie more than just another romantic comedy.
