I’ve been searching for the book of love letters that Carrie read to Mr. Big in Sex and the City: The Movie. I found this one, and I ordered a copy:
However, I found other love letter collections, as well. The book on Sex and the City: The Movie was titled Love Letters of Great Men.” I couldn’t find a book with that title. However, I did find this one:
Maybe that will have all the same love letters. Sphere: Related Content

Hi Carol L. I bought “The 50 Greatest Love Letters of All Time” edited by David H. Lowenherz. It’s great.

Try reading “When You Are Old” by William Butler Yeats. Another great love poem!

What was the name/author of the poem that Carrie read in full and Big said the last part of it to her toward the end of the movie–something like Forever thyne, forever mine, forever ours?”

TMS: I believe the following is what you’re looking for. Ludwig van Beethoven wrote:
“Angel, I must close, so that you may receive the letter imediately - Be calm; for only by calmly considering our lives can we achieve our purpose to live together - be calm - love me - Today - yesterday - what tearful longing for you - for you - you - my life - my all - all good wishes to you - Oh, do continue to love me - never misjudge your lover’s most faithful heart.
ever yours
ever mine
ever oursâ€

this is the poem……
Though still in bed, my thoughts go out to you, my Immortal Beloved, now and then joyfully, then sadly, waiting to learn whether or not fate will hear us - I can live only wholly with you or not at all - Yes, I am resolved to wander so long away from you until I can fly to your arms and say that I am really at home with you, and can send my soul enwrapped in you into the land of spirits - Yes, unhappily it must be so - You will be the more contained since you know my fidelity to you. No one else can ever possess my heart - never - never - Oh God, why must one be parted from one whom one so loves. And yet my life in V is now a wretched life - Your love makes me at once the happiest and the unhappiest of men - At my age I need a steady, quiet life - can that be so in our connection? My angel, I have just been told that the mailcoach goes every day - therefore I must close at once so that you may receive the letter at once - Be calm, only by a calm consideration of our existence can we achieve our purpose to live together - Be calm - love me - today - yesterday - what tearful longings for you - you - you - my life - my all - farewell. Oh continue to love me - never misjudge the most faithful heart of your beloved.
ever thine
ever mine
ever ours

If you’re interested in the “story” behind the Beethoven letter, please, please go and rent or buy “Immortal Beloved.” It’s the BEST love story… and you learn who Beethoven’s “Immortal Beloved” is. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry…. and you’ll be surprised at the end. The letters that he wrote to this woman are absolutely mezmerizing. They deserve to be in each and every “great love letter” book written. Enjoy!

One of the letters in “Carrie’s” book was shown from behind her, so we could see into the book. It was something to do with communication and listening and trying to understand the other person. Something to that effect. I bought the Love Letters of Great Men and Women, but cannont find that particular one. Does anyone know which lover letter that was and by whom it was written? Also, I have been told that book did exist. . .but it is out of print? Is that true?

My wife and I have a small company that makes handbound books. We just saw the movie and were very surprised to see this book of love letters featured in it. We have been making a very similar book for almost 10 years — it has the Beethoven “Immortal Beloved” letter in it, along with several others that were mentioned in the movie. If anyone is interested in checking it out, you can find us at http://www.greatlittlebooks.com
