Gateway Pundit noted one particular paragraph in Barack Obama’s campaign speech in Berlin, Germany on July 24th. Here’s the quote from Obama’s speech:
Now the world will watch and remember what we do here - what we do with this moment. Will we extend our hand to the people in the forgotten corners of this world who yearn for lives marked by dignity and opportunity; by security and justice? Will we lift the child in Bangladesh from poverty, shelter the refugee in Chad, and banish the scourge of AIDS in our time?
(emphasis mine)
Wonderful words. Socially conscious words. However, they’re words. Obama offers only words. John McCain offers words, too, but he backs up those words with concrete action. He has already literally lifted a child in Bangladesh from poverty. I wrote about Bridget McCain a few weeks ago. Bridget McCain is the adopted daughter that the McCains lifted from poverty from Mother Teresa’s orphange in Bangladesh.

Here’s the story from Gateway Pundit:
In 1991, John and Cindy McCain adopted a beautiful young girl from Bangladesh.
The Wall Street Journal reported:(I)n 1991 Cindy McCain was visiting Mother Teresa’s orphanage in Bangladesh when a dying infant was thrust into her hands. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life, so Mrs. McCain brought the child home to America with her. She was met at the airport by her husband, who asked what all this was about.
Mrs. McCain replied that the child desperately needed surgery and years of rehabilitation. “I hope she can stay with us,” she told her husband. Mr. McCain agreed. Today that child is their teenage daughter Bridget.
…(T)here was a second infant Mrs. McCain brought back. She ended up being adopted by a young McCain aide and his wife.
“We were called at midnight by Cindy,” Wes Gullett remembers, and “five days later we met our new daughter Nicki at the L.A. airport wearing the only clothing Cindy could find on the trip back, a 7-Up T-shirt she bought in the Bangkok airport.” Today, Nicki is a high school sophomore. Mr. Gullett told me, “I never saw a hospital bill” for her care.

The McCain Family, 1999
And THERE is the choice this election year. On one hand we have Barack Obama, a gifted speaker who has absolutely no history or accomplishments to back up his rhetoric. He is untried. He is inexperienced. He has a proven history of questionable associates. He has a proven history of questionable judgment concerning foreign affairs. He is all about words.
On the other hand we have John McCain - a statesman with a long history of service, accomplishments and sacrifice for our country. He has proven himself repeatedly to be a man of character, a man of good judgment, and a man of thorough knowledge and experience in both domestic and foreign affairs.
I pray that when American voters are alone in the voting booth in November, the majority will see the clarity of choice - they’ll see beyond the pop prince of words and know that action is what is needed - not pretty words - and they will vote for John McCain.

McCain sucks. He is sexist, will carry out Bush’s policies, and is old and dumb. Obama/Biden 08
September 4th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Wow, Sarah, you’re an embarrassment to Obama, and you certainly have a poor understanding of politics. Let’s see, in your view, the “sexist” candidate is the one who selected a female VP, and the enlightened Obama refused to select the only person that would actually help him win - Hillary Clinton. Now, who’s sexist? The candidate you think is “dumb” is the one who was brilliant enough to energize the entire Republican party along with many Independents and Democrats by selecting Sarah Palin for a running mate. Your candidate selected an old long-term male senator with a history of serious health problems. Obama is a wonderful speaker, but he lacks courage and the ability to think for himself.

Carol,
So it is wiser to select a female VP solely b/c she is female when she has NO experience leadership at the national level, and governed a with less residents than San Francisco. Nominating a VP for sex alone and not experience is insulting to women everywhere because it assumes we will just vote for a woman. I will vote for a duo that both have experience in D.C. and dealing with the politics there…and that is Obama & Biden.
September 5th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
Dee: And Obama’s “national experience” is a…where? I missed it somehow. A one term junior Senator [less than 4 years experience] as compared to Sarah Palin’s 12 years in governmental service? Where is your poor little noggin? McCain and Palin are going to win in November. Mark my words.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Dee, have you lost all perspective? First, I never said I would vote for Sarah Palin because she is female. I will vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin because together they will do for more authentic and beneficial change FOR America than Obama and Biden ever would. And don’t even start on that experience argument. It holds no water. Obama has no experience in leadership at the national level. He has been a junior senator for less than one term - most of which he has spent running for POTUS. There’s a big difference between campaigning and governing. He had zip experience in governing - even a tiny town or a state with a small population. You’re going to vote for a POTUS with less experience in governing than the VP of the other party. And when you compare POTUS candidates, John McCain outshines Obama into oblivion. You’re blinded by a charismatic person who does well with a script and a teleprompter, but has no actions to back up his words. Your position is laughable.

John McCain will not make a difference.I mean both him and Obama will make O.K presidents, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. But this “great president” make McCain seem is so false. His views are so short sighted, and so are yours Carol. If he really wants to make a difference, he should get rid of guns in the U.S, he should get rid of the death penalty. The United States is the only civilized western country that has these laws, its disgusting. What would make a great leader is someone who not just helps his people, but the world. He talks about how America can be a role model for other countries but he just doesn’t understand, like Bush, that some countries just can’t operate that way. I don’t know why you would vote for someone who is so ignorant.

Wow….he adopted a kid. whooptedo. So what? He’s not a humanitarian, he’s a politician. The fact that you buy into his work is appalling. To M.J - you give new meaning to the word “ignorant.” McCain has done more to help people than Obama has even thought of. Are you an expert on how other countries operate? Are you speaking of any country in particular? You don’t make much sense.

I think anyone who thinks either of these candidates will do anything to better this country is both ignorant and silly. I think it is sad that the majority of people vote for the “lesser of two evils” without even looking into third party candidates. No change will ever come as long we think Democrat/Republican. Its time to start voting for people, not parties.
