Last night RT and I were watching TV, and there was a commercial about “Silence Your Rooster” and that was it. No other information about what the commercial was about. Obviously it was about some type of sleep aid. So out of curiosity (which is the blatant objective of the commercial anyway) I looked it up.

Silence Your Rooster?
“Silence Your Rooster” is an ad for Ambien CR. I’ve written about my experience with Ambien before. I would personally never take it again since I didn’t enjoy feeling like a zombie. Maybe the “CR” formulation works better than what I took a few years ago. I must say, though, that the “Silence Your Rooster” campaign is a very clever advertising tactic.

Thank you for your post.
I refused to give the website anything for their hit count because I DESPISE cryptic advertising, and yet my wife and I were so curious…

STUPID COMMERCIAL!!!!! MAKE ME GO TO UR SITE ONLY TO FIND A PRODUCT THAT I’LL NEVER USE-ESPECIALLY NOW!!!

I also wondered about the commercial and had to find out the hard way, had to pursue it. Clever idea but they’ll never have me for a customer!

Funny. You all complain about the advertisement, yet here you are talking about it and half of you have probably visited the site. Looks like successful marketing to me.

In all my years I have never fallen for such a thing, but I thought that commercial was so clever and so amusing, that I had to go to the web site. Although I have no use for the product, I am still impressed.

I fell for it but was unable to get into their site. So, here I am, trying to find out what the ad was for. I don’t need it. My wife swears by it.

I agree - very clever Ad. I, too, was curious and had to check out the website. Good for them - I am always impressed with clever marketing. Just wish I could be that creative!

so glad i found this site and didn’t give the official site a count, i agree that it was clever advertising but it irratated me to no end to not know what it was for, i wouldn’t use a product that leaves a question about what it was for, is smacks of sneakyness and underhanded advertising, and i hate anything that leaves me with a question about, thanks for haveing this so i didn’t give them a count

What a neat commercial. It got my curiosity up. I love the idea. What clever advertising and I love to see funny animal ads.

I thought that it was a blurb against Obama.

I LOVE THE PRODUCT, I’VE USED IT AND LOVE IT.

What is the big deal about having to go to the website to get the scoop? I do have need of a sleep aid and I have used both the original and the timed release product. The best thing about the product is no hangover. However if you take it and try to stay up you will feel like a Zombie. It won’t knock you out.

I thought it was a chicken?????

Why are people knocking this ad? Why is it stupid when you see that guy in sweaty gym shorts waving his hoo hoo at the juice bar and think it’s funny? If you don’t like the ad, “silence your remote.” Who cares, it will be off the air and something else will take it’s place soon.

Hello,
I have a neighbor across the street that was born and raised in Mexico. He has a problem with the police in this small Texas town because they have a problem with him beating his wife when he thinks she does something wrong or shows disrespect or just if he is being the ahole he is. When I first saw this stupid commercial I had hoped it was something to raise awareness about spousal abuse. I will never take a product that is advertised in this way. Thank you for your website so I did not have to honor their company with a hit to theirs.

C’mon people!! Media, advertising, and pharma are huge industries employing tons of people. No, I don’t agree with the tactics. No, I don’t believe in pharmaceuticals being crammed down everyone’s throat when natural, God-given natural remedies leave to be undiscovered and covering symptoms is preferred to cure.
This is just what IS and we need to be educated, curious, cognant and able to check something out, then reject it as desired.
Relevant is our ability to see, recognize and gather wisdom along the way.
Yep, have taken Ambien CR, when sleep evades for too long and assistance is needed to silence worries, stress or just the brain not quitting going round and round over family, work, the world and so on in some near-sleep state.
My warning would be that it CAN make you get up and do stuff, like go bathroom, drink water, check door… all while asleep and never remembering. So, be safe, be happy and - don’t fret the small stuff. Surely there has to be something more important to all of us here in this blog…. funny.
I went looking to figure out what it was about, too. Curious and all. I found you guys. Then, I HAD TO put in my 5 cents. Good night you all. God bless. And know that Sarah Palin is a friend of mine from Wasilla, Alaska and a most wonderful person and I am worried sick about her taking all this in……

I thought it was a veiled reference to choking your chicken.
