A comparison of two magazine covers is worth a thousand words:

Trashing the candidate of one party

Canonizing the candidate of the other party
Where are the lies and scandal headlines about Mr. Unity Obama’s 20-year connection with a white-hating church? Where are the lies and scandal headlines about Obama’s relationship with Tony Rezko. Where are the questions about how can Obama be a loving father to his two daughters while running for a national office? How will he balance the demands of being President with the needs of his children? Is he putting his own ambitions over the needs of his family? Where is Obama’s official birth certificate? Where are his school records from Columbia University?
Of course, most Americans see the Palin smears for what they are, and the smears are only making people that much more wary of Democrats. If they’re so desperate as to trash a woman who is obviously well qualified and highly principled, what are they so afraid of? Leftist hacks like US magazine, Campbell Brown and virtually all of CNN are only making it easier for John McCain to win this election.

“News reporting” has merely become another word for “lobbying”- whether being offered from whatever side of personal bias of the person/media/written-spoken source. It has gotten to the point that they legally should be required to register as lobbyist. Where, oh where can Americans get information NOT so tainted. It can be so refreshing reading/listening to articles written in other English-speaking sources. Independents and self-thining voters really DO need information of real facts pertinent to the election. It almost appears ALL media has lowered itself to what was once termed “yellow journalism/sensationalism”.

how about:
Of course, most Americans see the John Edwards smears for what they are, and the smears are only making people that much more wary of Republicans.
get off your high horse.

And apparently Barack Obama has never been smeared by right-wing Karl Rove-wannabes, either. Oh wait:

Oh, I didn’t realize there were reports that Obama was gay, or that he was having an affair, or that one of his kids was really not his kid but his grandkid… Somehow I missed those stories.

The John Edwards smears? The MSM didn’t report on John Edwards’ affair for MONTHS - not until the National Enquirer finally got proof of it. And then John Edwards admitted that the stories were true. He DID cheat on his dying wife and father a child with his mistress. The MSM didn’t even make an attempt at getting proof of the stories they’ve put out about Sarah Palin.

US Magazine just lost a reader. They shot themselves in the foot this time. Everyone loves Sarah and her family and this will hurt the Democratic party big time. She is more qualified to be president of the United States than smooth talker-can’t wait to tax us, Obama.
McCain/Palin 2008!!!!! You go girl!

US Weekly? Surely, no one is relying on the magazine for hard news. And I hope no one is really reading it to get a better sense of politics or even political candidates. Surely, this isn’t what you mean by “liberal media.”
And the last time I checked, Obama’s relationship with Wright was heavily scrutinized in the media, as were some of his other Chicago relationships. His patriotism was also scrutinized because he wouldn’t wear a flag pin, and his faith was scrutinized because people thought he might be a Muslim. And it also seemed that Edwards got his due, particularly for an also-ran presidential candidate.
Finally, in the case of Edwards, why is the poster above lumping all mainstream media together? Surely, you don’t equate the major news media to the Enquirer and US Weekly. It seems to me that that the focus of major news media re: Palin is on the investigation of her treatment of the State Trooper. Surely, that’s fair game — and not liberal smearing. I mean, there is an actual investigation going on. Shouldn’t we know about that? Isn’t that news?
Oh, and there was coverage of her daughter’s pregnancy, which was also true. Irrelevant? I think so. But so are nice family photos of the Palins and the Obamas, for that matter.
Anyway, US Weekly? Come on. If you’re going to attack a magazine’s credibility, then at least pick one that is credible.

This US magazine really blows. Nothing is ever true in it. Just like the other rag magazines at the checkout counter. Just the unintelligent readers believe all the lies that come out of that rag.

Okay, if you use US magazine for your NEWS, you deserve what you get.
