I’ve been outside a lot today. RT and I took a long walk through our property - over the hills and through the wood. Along the side of our driveway I have some rose bushes planted, and despite a couple of mild frosts, they are still beautiful. Look at these pictures I took awhile ago:

Yellow Rose in November

Roses in November

RT is heading out to do some skeet shooting, and I am heading in to take a nap. I woke up around 4:45 this morning - wide awake and have been going strong ever since. Around 5:30 this morning, as I was reading blogs, I came across a recipe for “baked oatmeal.” It sounded so good that I made some for our breakfast. I ended up putting the recipe on my recipe blog, Cabbie’s Cooking. It was ever bit as good as it sounded. I’ll be making it again.

    Dear Carol,

Those roses are beautiful. Until how late in the season do they usually bloom?

  2. carol Says:

Thanks, Erik. About 27 years ago we lived in N.C. and had a small rose garden. I remember the roses were beautiful, and I loved them. Ever since then I’ve wanted another rose garden. We had roses at another home, but they never thrived liked the ones we had in N.C. I truly don’t know how late they will bloom. We moved into our home October 2007 - and we put in the rose garden this past spring. So this is the first year for this rose garden. We will have a hard frost soon, and the roses and the sunflowers will be gone till spring.

I think that’s the most beautiful rose photo I’ve ever seen. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, Norma. A week later, and that rose is gone - the victim of a couple of hard frosts this past week. It sure was beautiful while it lasted, though. Thanks for stopping by.
