When will the Democrats admit what a disaster Obama is?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

As I listened to and watched today’s news, I wondered yet again when the Democrats will finally (if ever) admit what a disaster Obama is. There comes a point when even Obama’s most blind disciples must face the truth. The man is a fount of virtually nonstop bad decisions and bad associations.

It looks like Obama will beat Hillary for the Democratic nomination, and that’s too bad for the Democrats. I believe Hillary would have a chance at winning the general election. Obama, on the other hand, has no chance in the world of winning. There are simply too many negatives about him. Plus, he demonstrates little ability to handle criticism. Someone said that they don’t notice the color of his skin - only the thinness of it. His constant whining about every little perceived insult has already gotten old for all but his most staunch supporters. He could take a page from George Bush’s book on how to handle criticism.

I saw this cartoon at Townhall. Pretty much sums it up.

Obama: Outraged!

Rev. Wright, Obama

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

It has been fascinating watching all the media attention given to Jeremiah Wright and the Barack Obama the past few days. While Barack Obama seemed very sincere at his press conference today, it is virtually impossible to believe him.

Jeremiah Wright came out of all this looking like a petulant child. He is quick to list all his accomplishments, his credentials and his degrees - and then he acts and talks in such a way that negates the dignity of those accomplishments/credentials/degrees.

Then today, Barrack Obama came off as sincere - but less than believable and certainly incapable of handling the situation effectively in a timely manner. While I disagree completely with Obama’s politics, it is sad that he is being sabotaged by his own minister.

Right now I’m watching CNN, and there is a Rev. Norwood Thompson, president of the SCLC, talking about Jeremiah’s accomplishments - as though that somehow makes Wright’s rants okay. Now he is talking about how Wright’s speeches didn’t hurt him in the “African-American community” but might have in the “white community.” What’s with this habit of putting people in racial groups? Do they see everything as black vs. white?

Rev. Thompson then cited Wright’s credentials in the military and then said, “I don’t know why we’re trying to make him out as some kind of demogogue right now - that he’s out of touch with America?” Rev. Thompson, no one has to make Wright out as a demogogue. He’s doing a wonderful job of that all by himself.

I looked up the definition of “demogogue.” Here it is: a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power The definition fits Wright - and even Obama - to a t.

Jeremiah Wright is obviously a raving racist with an enormous ego. Obama comes off as unbelievable when he tries to make us believe that after 20 years of close association with Wright, Obama didn’t realize the true character of the man - and that after 20 years of attending a church, he doesn’t agree with the “black liberation theology” that is such a key part of that church.

As of right now, it appears that Obama’s chances of being elected are pretty much shot. However, there’s no telling what will happen between now and November. As much as I dislike Obama, I almost wish he’d get the nomination because I think John McCain would crush him in the general election.

My sister, Debi, forwarded this revisionist cartoon to me today via email. Pretty funny, and unfortunately, when I read “progressive” blogs, it is what way too many people believe.

Obama now admits he heard “provocative” sermons by Wright

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

So Obama is a liar. To say the least. Now he admits that he had indeed heard some of Wright’s “provocative” sermons. Don’t you love using “provocative” to mean “hate-filled racist spewings”?

Here’s the story:

Obama Discusses the ‘Provocative’ Rev. Wright Sermons He’s Attended

ABC News’ Tahman Bradley reports: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has admitted, in the past, attending church when Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his former pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, has made controversial comments, but he has never explained what he heard.

Until now.

Obama, in an interview broadcast on “Fox News Sunday,” said he’s been on hand for worship services that included “provocative” messages delivered by Wright that have touched on race and issues plaguing the black community.

“He will talk about the failure of fathers to look after their children in ways that, sometimes, people might be taken aback by. He can use street vernacular in his sermons in ways that people wouldn’t expect to hear,” Obama said.

Obama continued, “He has certainly preached in the past, when I was there, about the history of race in this country in very blunt terms, talking about slavery and talking about Jim Crow. The problem - and I’ve pointed this out in my speech in Philadelphia - was, where often times he would error, I think, is in only cataloging the bad of America and not doing enough to lift up the good. And that’s probably where he and I have the biggest difference.”

Careful to point out that he does not endorse all of Wright’s sermons or the way in which they were delivered, Obama said, “I go to church not to worship a pastor but to worship God.” Obama also said his vision for the country is much more hopeful than some of the black elders who grew up in a more racially charged America.

Remember when Obama said this:

“The statements that Rev. Wright made that are the cause of this controversy were not statements I personally heard him preach while I sat in the pews of Trinity or heard him utter in private conversation.”

A blatant lie.

Oh, and did you catch the line that his biggest difference with Jeremiah Wright is that Wright tends to emphasize the negative instead of the postiive? THAT is the biggest difference? Lord help us if BHO is elected president.

Jeremiah Wright: Obama’s Worst Nightmare

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

The Jeremiah Wright story gets more and more wild. What a self-involved man. Don’t you know Obama wishes the man would just shut up! Jeremiah Wright is all about Jeremiah Wright. He sure isn’t a friend to Obama. John McCain and Hillary Clinton both likely consider him the gift that keeps on giving.

Jeremiah Wright and Barack Obama

Quick detour: Roland Martin was on CNN tonight saying that Jeremiah Wright did not MEAN “God damn America.” He was going on and on about listening to the whole transcript. The man is living in the Obama la-la land of denying what is staring him in the face. I’ve rarely seen such a blatantly biased newsperson.

Sorry for the brief detour to Roland Martin. It’s just amazing to see people continue to defend Wright. There simply is no defense of such racist statements in ANY context. And why does Roland Martin feel such a strong need to defend such a low-life?

Here are a couple of exerpts from the news story about Wright’s statement:

Wright Calls Sermon Controvery “Unfair”

“. . . . I felt it was unfair. I felt it was unjust. I felt it was untrue. I felt — for those who were doing that — were doing it for some very devious reasons,” he said.

Oh. I get it. To accurately quote Jeremiah Wright and to show clips of his preaching is unfair and unjust and untrue and done for devious reasons. However, preaching that the U.S. government gave AIDS to blacks, caused 9/11 and deliberately got blacks addicted to drugs. Now THAT is fair and just and true and done for altruistic reasons?

Asked his response to the senator’s speech, Wright said, “He’s a politician, I’m a pastor.”
“I do what I do. He does what politicians do,” Wright said. “What happened in Philadelphia, where he had to respond to the sound bites, he responded as a politician.”

Now he’s throwing his supposedly good friend, Barack Obama, under the bus. Wright tells us that Barack was just doing what a politician has to do when he said he didn’t agree with Wright. See what I mean by thinking that Obama wishes Wright would just shut up? Wright just couldn’t stand to stay on the sidelines any longer. He’s basking in all this media attention.

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air provides ABC’s context for Wright’s diatribes - just to show that Wright’s comments definitely were NOT taken out of context. Click the link and read it.

Jeremiah Wright - National Press Club and Bill Moyers

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

Jeremiah Wright is the gift that keeps on giving. At least in terms of helping the cause of the Republican candidate, John McCain.
The Chicago Sun-Times is reporting that Wright is scheduled to be on Bill Moyers’ tomorrow, and then Monday he will speak to the National Press Club. I doubt the man will be able to do anything to help Obama’s cause in those two appearances. Almost certainly, he will further demonstrate exactly why Obama’s association with him is a major negative in this campaign. Here’s the story:

Wright offering fresh fodder to Obama critics
By Lynn Sweet
WASHINGTON–The controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright — Sen. Barack Obama’s pastor — is speaking Monday at the National Press Club as part of a divinity conference of black church leaders. Wright’s decision to headline an event at the Press Club — open to all media — risks giving Obama’s critics more fodder, as if they don’t have enough already.

Meanwhile, PBS is touting an interview with Wright to be broadcast Friday on “Bill Moyers’ Journal.” Fresh material from Wright — no matter how well-intended — is not what Obama needs.

Wright’s Press Club talk is supposed to be about offering perspective on black churches — theology, history and politics, and the torrent of coverage stemming from Obama’s presidential bid.

Wright’s relationship with Obama triggered an uproar when video of Wright’s inflammatory sermons surfaced. Faced with a crisis, Obama delivered a highly regarded speech in March about race and why he would not “disown” Wright, the senior pastor at Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago’s South Side.

But the speech, good as it was, did not push Wright out of the picture.

Wright looms as a serious problem for Obama in his fight to be the Democratic presidential nominee over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton and, if he wins, as a general election candidate against Sen. John McCain. Look no further than an ad the North Carolina Republican Party released Wednesday featuring a clip from Wright’s “God Damn America” sermon and calling Obama an “extremist.”

Fox News has been all over Wright — helicopter shots of his Tinley Park mansion under construction — and host Bill O’Reilly has been pounding Obama over Wright regularly on his show.

The backfire potential of Wright having any sort of a public profile at this point seems obvious.

I asked the church about the prospects of Wright further wounding Obama’s candidacy, and I was e-mailed material about the divinity conference.

When the uproar over Wright started, Obama chief strategist David Axelrod asked his friends at Jasculca Terman — a public affairs firm — to advise Trinity on how to handle the crush of media coverage, and they did, pro bono. Jim Terman, the president of the firm, said, “We were not asked to provide our advice about the reported speech of Rev. Wright in Washington” and did not know about it until it was scheduled.

McCain denounced the North Carolina GOP party ad. “It’s not the message of my campaign,” he said. He wrote a letter to the state party chairman imploring them to pull the spot. The ad “degrades our civics,” McCain said. The Republican National Committee also told the North Carolina party the ad was not “appropriate or helpful.”

Obama, in Indiana, said he assumes if McCain “thinks that it’s an inappropriate ad, that he can get them to pull it down since he’s their nominee and standard bearer.” The spot as I write this has not been pulled.

O’Reilly, chatting with Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. on his show Wednesday night, said he was “flabbergasted” that Wright just does not “take a vacation.” When O’Reilly is right, he’s right.

The Democrats’ Ugly Truth

Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008

Observing Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama during these primaries and caucuses continues to reassure me that John McCain will prevail in November. The reality is that the Democrats have failed to select even one viable candidate. Both candidates have major character flaws that will trump any dirt the dems can dig up about McCain.

Clinton and Obama

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has what I believe is an accurate assessment of the situation:

Democrats have discovered an ugly truth: neither of the two candidates left will unite the party, and for good reason. They’re both lousy candidates. People like Obama more on a personal level, but both carry significant negatives now, and both candidates have contributed to them. Hillary Clinton’s Tuzla Dash will guarantee her defeat in November, and if not, Bill Clinton apparently will. Hillary now gets less of the African-American vote than Republicans - only 8% in Pennsylvania. Obama can’t even buy a victory despite having more money than Croesus, and he has lost every big state the Democrats need to win in November.

Boo Hoo Obama

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

MVRWC has a great graphic that I swiped. It has been amusing to read through a lot of the Democratic blogs the past couple days and read all the whining about the questions that Barack Obama was asked at the debate last week. It’s incredible. Really. People are actually claiming that the questions were unfair. That the questions were about non-issues. ABC News is getting complaints about Charles Gibson’s and George Stephanopoulos’s handling of the debate - along with complaints about the questions they asked. Obama has even intimated that more debates might not be necessary.

BooHoo Obama

It brings to mind George Bush’s reaction to all the vitriol that the left has dished out the past eight years. He ignores it and moves on. The left regularly compares Bush to Hitler. They rake him over the coals and disrespect him at every turn. The disrespect and criticism that the left has heaped on George Bush has been appalling. Yet, they whine and complain when Obama is asked some uncomfortable questions. It’s pathetic, and it’s the height of hypocrisy.

On CNN earlier today Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania was telling us that Obama wants to stick to “the issues” rather than getting sidetracked with non-issues like the “bitter” remarks. It’s amazing to me how issues become “non-issues” when they reflect badly on Boo Hoo Obama. It doesn’t matter what is important to people. Issues are only important if the Democratic talking heads SAY they’re important. That attitude is spelled two different ways. The first is H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-S-Y, and the second is E-L-I-T-I-S-M. and those are finely honed attributes when it comes to the Democrats - especially Barack Obama.

The emperor is NAKED, folks! Wake up and have the integrity and courage to acknowledge it.
