John Gebhardt - A True Representation of our Armed Forces

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

I posted the above photograph on November 9th - over two weeks ago.  This morning I FINALLY saw mention of this story on FOX news.  Has it been on the other major news networks?  I haven’t seen it.  Perhaps I missed it - probably not.  The MSM isn’t much interested in anything positive. Apparently their goal is to produce as much anti-American drivel as possible.

Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt should make everyone in America proud of our Armed Services.  He’s home now - been home a couple months - and his wife says she’s not surprised at his actions in Iraq.  He was always able to comfort their own children when they were babies.

What is frustrating to me is that this picture is months old.  We get instant photos and news of anything negative happening in Iraq, but stories such as this - the stories that are truly representative of what our soldiers are doing over there - get little publicity, and the publicity they DO get is old news.

My nephew who is stationed in Baghdad, tells us about children living in trash dumps and looking forward to the treats of candy and other gifts the soldiers give them from the packages they receive from home.  Every single day our soldiers see the results of terrorism, and they’re fighting to save the Iraqui people from the even worse fate should we pack up and leave them to the whims of the terrorists.

I don’t understand how anyone who trashes our troops can live with his/her conscience.  Our troops are decent and hard-working men and women who are dealing with ruthless murderers whose only goal is to deal death and terror to everyone.  The fact of the matter is that the troop-bashers don’t have a conscience.

If the Democrats REALLY want to be effective in their protests . . .

Saturday, November 4th, 2006

In reading the Cotillion email, I came across reference to this gem from The Nose on Your Face.

Republicans Hint that Self-Immolation Might Be More Effective than Anti-War Hunger Strikes

Immolation15yr_2 With the elections just a few days away, Republicans continue to scoff at anti-war hunger strikes as “rookie stuff” and have quietly suggested that the anti-war movement should elevate their game if they really want results.

“Yeah, the notion of Cindy Sheehan surviving on banana smoothies for a couple days really has us up nights,” said one Bush staffer. “These guys have really got to step it up if they want to be taken seriously. They need to draw on the heritage of their 1960s anti-war predecessors. I’m pretty sure that if the bunch of them set themselves on fire, we’d take notice.”

Self-Immolation has been practiced as a means of protest throughout history, but was most common during the Vietnam War, when several Buddhist monks and American citizens burned themselves to death.

“If Cindy Sheehan, Susan Sarandon, Sean Penn and Danny Glover were all simultaneously lit up like torches, we’d probably have the troops home in a couple weeks,” continued the staffer. “I mean, I can’t promise anything– I’m just free-lancing here. But that sort of…demonstration of commitment…might get us to realize the error of our ways. I might be going out on a limb here, but a crispy Barbra Streisand might be worth a roll back of the tax cuts. Hell, I’d marry a gay Hollywood producer and adopt several Pakistani refugees if you set Alec Baldwin ablaze.”

Conservatives have a hilarious sense of humor.

John Kerry, Al Gore - God Was Sure Watching Out For America in 2000 and 2004

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

When I see and hear what train wrecks the two last Democratic nominees for President have become, it makes me realize yet again that God was indeed watching out for American in the 2000 and 2004 elections.

It has been amusing listening to all the democrats try to explain away what Kerry said.  They’re trying to convince people that he DIDN’T mean what he very clearly said, and that, as a veteran himself, he would never insult our military men and women.  The fact is, though, he did.  Of course his own actions after returning from service showed his lack of respect for the military and for our service personnel.  So his words don’t come as a big surprise - except I thought his “handlers” would have managed him a little better.

This is a man who is supposed to be an accomplished speaker.  There was no botched joke.  Mr. Kerry - from his holier-than-thou-perch - thought he could get away with slamming the military because he was speaking to a bunch of Democrats.  I guess he thought he was safe with his fellow Democratic snobs.

He’s taking the right track now, though.  There is no way that an apology would ever make up for what he said, and who would believe it anyway?  The only thing he’s sorry about is that his remarks caused such a furor.  The only way to fight it is to take the offense and try to make the die-hard democrats believe it was a botched joke - something that apparently isn’t very difficult.  That anyone could fall for that is amazing - but not surprising.  I’ve never seen such lemmings in my life.

Put Kerry with Al “Do as I say, not as I do” Gore with Bill “No morals whatsoever” Clinton, and you have the three stooges - just not as funny as the originals.

Thank God that George Bush is our president.

Our Soldier Sons - God Watch Over Them

Monday, September 25th, 2006

Beth at Blue Star Chronicles wrote about her soldier son in this post.

I don’t know where my Soldier Son is. The last time I got a message from him he said his unit was pushing to another area. He was vague about where that would be, but I know it’s an area where there is a lot of fighting right now. . . .

It really hit me when I got his orders in the mail. He sent them to me for safe keeping and ‘just in case’. Just in case. That’s what really got me. The ‘just in case’. I tried to read the orders, but they looked like they had been xeroxed way too many times and were barely legible. The part I could read was his name, rank and the statement that he’s deployed in the Global War on Terror. That got me too. . . .

When I hear that the al-islamofascists have put out yet another tape of their disgusting medieval abuses and tortures of U.S. military Soldiers or civilians from anywhere I feel my anger towards them building. When I hear their fascist hate-filled rhetoric I just want to scream. . . .

When I hear the hate-filled ignorant rhetoric of our enemies within who just don’t GET IT, I want to scream even more. These are the worst. They are speaking against their own people, their own country. . . .

The main stream media is the worst. I listen to them put out propaganda AGAINST our own country and it is infuriating. It puts our troops in a much more dangerous position. Appeasement does nothing but prolong suffering and conflict. You can avoid conflict, but it only leads to unavoidable conflict. How they can do that and sleep at night is beyond my understanding.

All the “progressive” rhetoric against the war and against George Bush is killing our soldiers. It is empowering the enemy. Seeing the self-interest, stupidity and political posturing masquerading as patriotism and scholarly intellect turns my stomach.

It was reported recently that a study had been done that determined that the war in Iraq has made terrorism a bigger threat. If the idiot leftwingers could have been non-partisan and truly patriotic long enough to support our country through the hard times rather than turning tail and running when the going got tough, the war would be completely different.

Beth’s soldier son is my soldier nephew. I pray God will watch over each and every soldier and save them from our enemies from without and within.

Blogging and the LA Times

Friday, September 22nd, 2006

In perusing my site meter last night, I saw several hits from The LA Times. The LA Times? Why are people coming to my blog from there? So I clicked the link and found that the LA Times online had reprinted an entire post of mine - along with a typo (which I have since corrected on the post) - and with links to The Median Sib. It was on their schools/education page. For posterity, HERE’S the link to the article in The LA Times. It has only generated a couple dozen hits since yesterday. But still it’s nice to have a little publicity.

Anderson Cooper - Maybe not so smarmy after all?

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I’ve received communication (comments and email) about my earlier post about annoying folks in the MSM - specifically Anderson Cooper, Christiane Amanpour, and Soledad O’Brien.  No one has bothered to stand up for Amanpour or O’Brien, but several people have said that Anderson Cooper shouldn’t be judged so harshly.

From comments:

He didn’t make it because of his famous mother. In fact-it was quite the opposite. He did it on his own. He followed wars around the globe with his own video camera and nothing more. This was after being denied a job with ABC news.

Here is information from someone who watched him cover the Democratic Convention in 2000.

[Other reporters] would come in and do the PR thing and sit down to be briefed and handed their pages and go on air and then disappear.  He [Anderson Cooper] was there studying — focus and uninterruptible – totally engrossed in his work at least an hour before he went on the air.

So maybe he isn’t so smarmy after all.  He just never made a positive impression on me.  However, I’ve only seen him as a news reporter - and as a host for “The Mole.”

Smarmy - Yes it fits!

Friday, August 11th, 2006

I wrote yesterday that Anderson Cooper seems smarmy - even though I wasn’t sure of the meaning of the word.  Well, here’s the official definition - and I was right - he’s smarmy:

Main Entry: smarmy

Function: adjective

Pronunciation: ’smär-me

Etymology: smarm to gush, slobber

1 : revealing or marked by a smug, ingratiating, or false earnestness

2 : of low sleazy taste or quality - smarm·i·ly/-m&-le/ adverb - smarm·i·ness/-me-n&s/ noun

The Three Most Annoying Folks From the MSM

Thursday, August 10th, 2006

Some people can be annoying simply by existing.  There are three MSM folks who fit that category perfectly.  I really can’t put my finger on why two of these three bug me so much, but as soon as one of them is on TV, their annoyance factor outweighs anything they could possibly say.  I usually change the channel immediately - or if RT is enmeshed in watching it, I grab a book and read or find something else to do.  Even doing the dishes is more appealing.

Here are my nominations for the top three most annoying folks in the MSM - and what a coincidence, they’re all at CNN:  Anderson Cooper, Christiane Amanpour, and Soledad O’Brien.

Anderson is just smarmy - and I’m not even sure what the word means, but it fits him.  I can’t figure out how he got his job - he must have something major on the bigwigs at CNN.  Plus, the title of his show is so pretentious:  AC 360.  Really!  (Of course Wolf Blitzer’s “The Situation Room” isn’t any better!  And he could very well be #4 on this list.)

Christiane gave the commencement address at my daughter’s college graduation and used the opportunity to make a political rant.  I lost all respect for her at that moment.  Enjoy your left-wing vitriol, but don’t spew it at my daughter’s graduation! To be fair, though, reading the news doesn’t take a lot of intelligence, and so it might have been beyond her capabilities to come up with an appropriately encouraging and congratulatory speech.

Soledad just acts so . . . I’m not sure how to describe it, but it’s like someone playacting.  I figure she must have something on the bigwigs at CNN, too.  How else could she have gotten the job?  She acts so fake…and serious.  Like if she keeps this stern look on her face, she’ll be believable and people will take her seriously - but it’s not working.

So, what do you think?  Who would you nominate?

For those who feel Israel should stop bombing Lebanon

Friday, August 4th, 2006

Just go here and read.  The only way to stop islamic terrorism is to obliterate the terrorists.

A Cease-Fire - Yeah right!

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

Sometimes - no, make that MOST times - I am appalled at the news coverage of the situation in Israel and Lebanon.  How can the MSM be so openly biased and people don’t see it for the dangerous farce it is?  And I’m also appalled at the gullible (hopefully but doubtfully) or totally self-interested (probably) reaction of many (most?) liberals and democrats.  Do they REALLY want the Islamic terrorists to prevail in the middle east?  Today while surfing some of my favorite websites, I found this cartoon at Dr. Sanity. It says it all.
