Park West Gallery in Southfield, Michigan

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

I LOVE visiting art galleries. Maybe it’s because I have no artistic talent myself, and so I enjoy seeing the work of people who have talent and know how to express that talent through their art. In looking through art galleries online, I came across Park West Gallery in Southfield, Michigan, which has twenty-three different galleries - each one devoted to either a particular artist or style of art.  They’re currently having a fall sale, and I plan to order their catalog to see everything that’s available.  Park West Gallery is home to the largest collection of fine art in the world, and they conduct fine art auctions throughout the United States and Canada.

Looking for Insurance- Term Insurance is the way to go

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

November is always the “open enrollment” month for our company insurance.  And that means I’ve been studing insurance policies the past couple weeks.  It’s a job to try to figure out what kind of insurance and how much insurance to get.   Just the terminology is confusing to me.   We all want to Reduce Premiums, and since I’m a Dave Ramsey fan, I know that term life insurance is definitely what he recommends.

Advantage Term Life Insurance company provides all types of insurance - universal, term, employer group policies, whole life policies - a phone call or an email will get you Insurance Quotes for whatever type of insurance you need.  Something else that is really helpful is that they provide you with Insurance Plans Pros and Cons to help you decide what you need and want in insurance.

Have you thought of starting an ecommerce site online?

Monday, November 26th, 2007

As you may know, I’ve been working on ways to make money online.  Early retirement sounds wonderful to me, but I need a way to make money online in order to afford it.  Since online shopping is becoming more and more popular and practical, it makes sense to look to the internet as a source of income.  Lots of people are making lots of money by starting a business/ecommerce site online.  If “they” can do it, then so can you - and so can I.  I was checking out some online sources of information and help.  AQHost not only is a blog hosting company but it makes the process of earning money online easy through a one-stop-shop where they help you develop a business hosting online store, ecommerce hosting, site design, shopping carts, free ecommerce installation, and SSL Certificates.  They set up merchant accounts so you can process credit cards and instantly start making money.  They’ve made the process simple and affordable.  And when you add their 24/7/365 support, it becomes an even better option.  AQHost has some of the fastest ticket time responses in the hosting industry.  So check them out if you are considering starting an ecommerce site online.  And if you just want a cool blog design, they do that, too.  Check out their blog hosting and design options.

Cell Phones and Meetings

Monday, November 26th, 2007

cell phoneToday it happened again.  As a matter of fact, there are very few meetings I’ve attended in the past few years that it hasn’t happened.  Someone’s cell phone went off - and of course it wasn’t a quiet ring tone - it was a loud rock song.  Everyone in the meeting lost track of the discussion as - rock song blaring continuously - the woman fumbled in her purse and pulled the cell phone out.  I was waiting for her to stand up and start her phone conversation before leaving the room.  However, she had the courtesy to turn off the phone - after letting it play music long enough for her to check out who was calling.  Sigh!  When will people ever learn to turn off their phones or put them on vibrate before going to meetings?

The Bachelor’s Brad Womack — what a wuss!

Tuesday, November 20th, 2007

I missed the finale of The Bachelor last night because the TV stations in our area chose to broadcast Monday Night Football instead of Dancing With The Stars and The Bachelor.  What a bummer.  There are few things I dislike watching more than Monday Night Football.  However, I DID watch The Bachelor: After the Final Rose program tonight.

Brad Womack, The Bachelor

Now, I’ve never much cared for Brad Womack, the current Bachelor.  He sounds like a robot whenever he talks - very mechanical and expressionless.  The whole premise of the show is so bogus.  All the women are expected to be open and honest - while the bachelor has to lie like a rug in order to keep them stringing along.

DeAnna The Bachelor
So at the finale last night, Brad gave both the women the boot.  Everybody talks about how shocking it was, but it’s not shocking - really.  Brad never seemed like he was on the show “for the right reasons” anyway.  He was the most boring bachelor yet.  Then tonight, he was simply a jerk to DeAnna.   Once she gets over the emotional turmoi of being rejected, I hope that she will realize that she is much better off without a robot for a boyfriend/husband.

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

My nephew is getting married in Germany in December.  I wish I could be there, but since I can’t, I was looking online for phone cards that could be used to call overseas so I could phone in my congratulations on the big day.  I found THERICHCOM.com.  At their website, you can get a phone card for just about anywhere.  I found a variety of cost effective phone cards to use to call Germany.  Phone cards make great gifts for anyone who needs to make calls to family or friends overseas.  THERICHCOM.com has over 800 phone cards to select from, and there’s no waiting to get it either.  They’re delivered immediately online.

Man Married Dog to Atone for Stoning Other Dogs

Friday, November 16th, 2007

According to this story, a man in India married a dog to atone for his sin of stoning two other dogs.  He felt he was cursed, and that marrying the dog would make things all better.
Man marries dog I don’t know about that.  Couldn’t he have just donated money to the local ASPCA or simply kept the dog as a very well tended pet?  Either way, that poor dog probably doesn’t sleep too well at night knowing what happened to the previous two dogs.

One of the commenters on the story that I linked to above wrote, “Dang man, your wife’s a dog!”  I got a chuckle out of that.

Holiday LED mini lights instead of incandescent?

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Christmas is only a few weeks away, and we’ll start decorating for it very soon.  When RT and I were clearing out the storage rooms to move into our new house last month, we came across my old Christmas tree.  It was a seven foot tree with pre-strung lights.  However, several of the branches were broken and I’d had to prop them up the last time I set up the tree.  So we gave that tree away rather than move it to the new house.  That means this year we’ll be looking for new Christmas tree lights.

I’ve heard about LED mini lights and how they use one tenth the energy of standard incandescent lights.  LED mini lights are also safer because they create very little heat - they’re cool to the touch.  They last much longer, too… like about 25 times longer than standard incandescent lights!  I looked at the Holiday LEDS site, and they have all kinds of LED lights for the holiday season.  Sounds like just what I need.

Dancing Lessons, Here I Come

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

One thing that I enjoyed tremendously a few years ago was taking dancing lessons. My friends and I went dancing every weekend. There are few activities in the world that are more relaxing and fun than dancing. RT has promised to take lessons with me. So that’s something I plan to investigate after Christmas - finding a place to take lessons and getting the dancewear and other items I might need for those lessons. Maybe it’s the new season of “Dancing With The Stars” that has inspired me to get back into dancing again. Whatever it is, I’m looking forward to it.
