I’m 64 and I have to tell you – that getting up in the morning 5 days a week thingie – don’t intend to continue that into infinity or until I’m called home. But I think what it ultimately comes down to is INNER resources. Sure, I don’t have the $$ to live on social security in the manner to which I would like to remain accustomed BUT I do have a lot of things I enjoy doing – cuddling with the cats, cooking, entertaining, blogging, reading blogs, having hissy fits about national elections, reading books I’ve had no time to read (I’m really looking forward to that one) and so forth.

Finally – that person described in your joke? My kind of person!

Gayle,  I agree with you – she’s my kind of person!  And I am looking forward to retirement.  There is plenty for me to do without going to work each day.

I was asked last night how I enjoyed retirement and my answer seemed to surprise the “asker”. I asked him why the look of surprise and he said his dad retired and got bored!

I can not image being bored and doing nothing is okay with me too. Retirement is highly under-rated – it’s a blast, a blast of pure freedom!

There is so much to do, or not do, and so little time left to enjoy either.

Carol:  Thanks for the comment, Mushy.  I agree with you about retirement (or at least I WILL)  I love my job – but I think I’d love the freedom of retirement even more.  Just a few years to go .
