You would think that Mary Carillo is in love with the Williams sisters especially Serena .
Carillo will defend them for anything they do. Cursing a line person saying she will stick this ball up your —and other things.
I am never going to watch any match where this person?? is on.
Ithink Serena should be banned from tenni and also Mary Carillo.

When I hear Mary Carillo’s voice, I immediately change the channel, because I am reminded of her comments on national TV indicating that she felt Monica Seles was milking her injury (actually the stabbing). Carillo’s comments were mean and despicable..Monica Seles had to experience so many setbacks…the man who stabbed her was not punished…no justice here…the Women’s Tennis Association took away her ranking…stupidity …Carillo’s comments…arrogant and wrongfully judgmental. Did Carillo ever apologize to Monica Seles? If not, she certainly should…no matter how late it may come.

Wow, somebody’s got some free time on their hands…..get a life people. Most of you probably watch American Idol and think Beyonce is a talented singer, but you want to critique a tennis commentator. I think she does a fine job, adds good insight, is easy to listen to. I have watched tennis plenty of times with her as one of the commentators…..never a complaint. Now go kiss a girl or your boyfriend and shut the F#$% up.

Thanks, Lee. You stated my thoughts perfectly. I wanted to ring her up and remind her a major theme of The Purpose Driven Life — it’s not about you. I, too, was glad Mr. Fowler interjected the comments. I don’t think she realized that she insulted as she complimented. I don’t think she realized that as she discussed the men, she belittled the many tremendous female athletes that we enjoy watching.

I actually enjoy Mary’s commenting on matches more these days because she does tell stories and adds info that you might not get otherwise. However, disagreeing with Christine, I didn’t like her for a long time because I thought she was unfairly critical of the Williams girls–to the point that I wondered if their race was a factor. I don’t think so much now after listening to her but Mary does still grate on me at times because she comes off as bitter that she worked so hard as a player only to get to 33–never winning a major–and never having the skills of Evert, Navratilova or the Williams sisters. She hates to see players, having skills she didn’t, not work to realize their potential. But She doesn’t understand that she can’t make that call for others and when she does it makes her look bitter and small. That is why she got gently called out by Chris Fowler about her criticism during the Aussie final last night. I think that is what many of you have not been able to put your finger on. Her passion just comes off as being a little bitter and jealous.

I could not agree more with most of the previous respondants. She is SO annoying. She was just telling some stupid story about who? during the Australian women’s final – about HERSELF!! She made it to #33 in the late seventies. God, couldn’t they come up with someone else more insightful????? She’s the commentator on every major tennis event and it ruins our enjoyment.

Mary Carillo says nothing but gibberish. I, too, keep her on mute. I also feel the same about Martina. I sometimes wonder if they get paid by how many words they speak. I would rather have zero commentators than those two.
