Let’s see now. Our wonderful “representatives” (using the term extremely loosely) are about to pass a “stimulus package” that will provide 300 million for golf carts.
Then there is $79 billion for schools. That sounds really noble. But schools won’t see that money. Kinda like all the lottery money that supposedly goes to schools - so helpful in Tennessee that after just a few years of getting all that money from the lottery, schools are having to limit how much electricity a teacher can use in her classroon, no new positions added, teachers can’t go to any PD activity that costs money.
And that’s only two of many examples of ridiculous money that will be thrown at people/businesses/programs that could easily do well if they only managed the money they already have with even a smidgeon of common sense and integrity. I’ve already written about other wastes. This “stimulus package” is the most absurd thing I’ve ever seen. Millions for honey bee insurance, millions for smoking cessation programs, millions for Amtrak, millions to update federal buildings, and millions for every other favored pork project in D.C. WHERE IS THE MONEY TO SAVE CHILDREN FROM DYING OF CANCER? I’m truly appalled that we have people who support the bailout. It shows the utter lack of perspective and integrity of our leaders - from our POTUS to our local leaders.
So where is the money to be thrown at cancer research? Just think of all the jobs for scientists, researchers and doctors that research money could create!
No, we won’t save children’s lives - we’ll save bad investors’ hides instead. We’ll continue to cultivate the feeling that the government is supposed to take care of us - taking away individual initiative and drive. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. I am ashamed of what America has become. Can you tell that this whole stimulus package infuriates me?

I call it the political autoeroticism bill, because it’s all about politicians *spit* doing obscene things with OUR money…

I agree about cancer research. My sister has Stage 4 breast cancer that has spread to her bones. However, as sad as I think it is, they will never cure cancer - it’s too much of a money maker. Think of all of the “pink ribbon” branded stuff… the costs of treatments, etc. Each PET scan that sis has costs thousands of dollars and she has several a year - that money goes to line someone’s pockets! I wish they would cure cancer - she is my best friend, but sadly they can’t afford to
Isn’t that horrible

I have to agree with you there. I am more upset about the $13 we will be getting in our paychecks that is suppose to encourage us to purchase big ticket items. WooHoo!

It’s funny how Rep. Bart Gordon calls himself a “blue dog†but is basically walking in lock-step with the expansion of government while also wasting taxpayer money on trips to Europe for him and his wife.
