I’m so sick of being described as spewing “unbridled hate” simply because my political beliefs are to the right of center and because I support the basic tenets of the Tea Party movement. If Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are described as spewing hate - then that applies to me as well because I am right there with them.

Much has been made of the Sarah Palin map with “crosshairs” on political opponents. Read this article and you’ll see that the metaphor of crosshairs/targets has been used by both sides - and the Democrats used it first - and the use was further up in the Democratic organization than where Sarah Palin is in the Republican organization. But those maps haven’t been publicized much because they don’t further the agenda of the left-leaning MSM.

Anyone who claims that the right is filled with hate hasn’t really studied the right. Now they could have read lots of left websites, and they’d believe all the trash talk about the right. Left websites are some of the most hate-filled places I’ve ever visited. Many are appalling. We have supposed “comedians” saying vile things not only about Palin but about Palin’s children. And it gets very little press - and certainly no condemnation from the left. We have people on the left wishing - and writing about - death and destruction to Palin, Beck and many others on the right. And it gets very little press and no condemnation from the left.

I often wonder if people who are so belligerently leftist even KNOW of all the vitriolic things said and done by the left towards the right. You don’t hear about it on the MSM or on leftist websites. They’re either ignorant - or they’re liars. Same for the people who talk about how “stupid” Sarah Palin is, and yet proclaim how “smart” Obama is. Same for people who said in 2008 that Palin wasn’t qualified to be Vice President, and yet also proclaimed that Obama WAS qualified to be President. Either they’re ignorant, or they’re liars.

And Democrats have the gall to say that the right is divisive and inspires violence.

We have a President who calls the people on the other side of the aisle “enemies.” That’s the President of the United States calling a large chunk of the American people - including myself - an “enemy.”

Sarah Palin’s use of the term “death panels” has alarmed the left - and many call it “fear-mongering.” The left uses the term “end of life counseling” which is a very safe term, but what kind of “counseling” will be done? Who are these folks who will determine what kind of counseling one gets. Death = End of Life. “Death Panel” is just another term for what the left is proposing. Not fear-mongering but making sure that ALL possible sides are looked at and discussed - that’s the REALITY of what “end of life” means. Rather than blindly pass something - unread by most - look at the possibilities and make sure it is what we want and need.

Someone described Glenn Beck as divisive and not the “sharpest knife in the right drawer.” But look at our POTUS. Here are some quotes and actions from from this highly polarizing and not-so-bright president:

- “We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

- During the presidential campaign, Obama told his supporters to “get in the face” of people who disagreed with them.

-The president said he’d campaigned in all 57 states of America.

-He pronounced Corpsmen as “Corpse-man.” Twice.

-He accused local police of acting “stupidly.”

-In a speech about health care he said, “The reforms we seek would bring greater competition, choice, savings and inefficiencies to our health care system.”

-In a speech in France he talked about not knowing a word in the “Austrian” language.

-He described his bowling as being “like the Special Olympics.”

-He said “My Muslim faith” when he meant to say “my Christian faith.”

-He talked about how he was in St.Louis - when he was actually in Kansas City.

-In describing the working class: “It’s not surprising, then, they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.”

-During 2008 campaign, when asked what he would do to counter Republican attacks, he said, “If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun.”

-He said, “In case you missed it, this week, there was a tragedy in Kansas. Ten thousand people died — an entire town destroyed.” This was about a Kansas tornado that killed 12 people.

-He said, “Israel will be a strong friend of Israel’s.”

-British Prime Minister Gordon Brown gave Obama an ornamental pen holder carved from the timbers of a Victorian-era anti-slave ship. Obama gave Brown a box set of 25 classic American movies on DVD, which reportedly don’t work on British DVD players. If Gordon Brown had wanted the boxed set of movies, he could have ordered it from Amazon himself.

- In speaking about his grandmother, he said, “she is a typical white person who, if she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, there’s a reaction that’s been bred into our experiences that don’t go away, and that sometimes come out in the wrong way, and that’s just the nature of race in our society.”

People make mistakes - they make gaffes. Obama has acknowledged most of these and corrected himself. Just as Palin has acknowledged the LESSER mistakes/gaffes she has made and corrected herself. Obama is given a pass. Palin is not.

If Obama had an “R” after his name, he’d have been treated even worse than Palin by the left - which is really saying something.

And how hypocritical is it of some people on the left to talk about the “divisive rhetoric” of the Tea Party movement while at the same time they’re “wondering” how what they interpret as “unbridled hate” might have inspired mass murder? If this had been a terrorist attack by someone with a middle-eastern background, we would have heard endless warnings to not “jump to conclusions.” Actually that is exactly what happened when Major Hasan started shooting people at Fort Hood. I don’t recall reading any speculation on TV “News” programs about how that might have been “inspired” by anyone. Instead it was all about not jumping to conclusions. However, since this latest murder spree was carried out by a young white guy - let the wondering about how the Tea Party inspired him begin.

From a writer I respect tremendously:

You can’t put a paranoid lunatic like Jared Loughner, the Tucson shooter, anywhere on the Left or Right of our political spectrum. This was equally true of Clay Duke, the Panama City school board shooter, who was marinated in a thick stew of socialist literature, class envy, and hard-Left websites. It was true of Joseph Stack, the man who flew his airplane into an IRS building in Austin, Texas, leaving behind an anti-capitalist manifesto that approvingly cited the “communist creed.” It was true of James Lee, the environmental extremist who used bombs to take hostages at the Discovery Channel headquarters last September.

No matter what any of these deranged individuals professed to believe, their crimes should not be pinned on the free expression of liberals, because we should not grant editorial control of our speech to lunatics. Likewise, Jared Loughner is responsible for his actions. No matter what ultimately motivated him to shoot Representative Giffords and murder six other people, including a little girl, no part of the blame rests with whoever he happened to agree with, or criticize.
