Thirteen Reasons I Am Thankful
(In no particular order)

1.  I am reasonably healthy.

2. I have people who love me and would do anything for me.

3. My job is fulfilling, and I feel I make a positive difference for the children I teach.

4. I live in The United States of America where we have freedoms we cherish.

5. I have a sister who helps me with the technical aspects of this blog (Beth at Blue Star Chronicles).

6. Despite making some really stupid mistakes in my life, I got through them without any irreparable damage.

7. Sunshine and Sweet Stuff – my two little granddaughters who continually delight me.

8.  Spring flowers and the general “greening” of nature at this time of year.

9. My two adult children who each have such a good sense of humor.  We always have a good time talking together, and I’m so proud of the mature and responsible adults they’ve become.

10.  I’m back with PawPaw – long history there.

11. PawPaw and I are building our dream home on some of the most beautiful land in Tennessee.

12. Modern conveniences such as cars, grocery stores, the flush toilet, telephone, TiVo, cameras, computers and electricity.

13. My extended family and heritage.

(Note: I’m leaving for a trip to Georgia to attend a funeral and will be gone for a couple days with no access to a computer.  I’m sorry, but I won’t be able to add links to other Thursday Thirteens this week.  I hope you’ll still visit and leave a comment – and I’ll be back to linking next Thursday.  THANKS!)

Amen. The mistakes thing – one of my soapboxes. We learn more from our mistakes than from the times when our lives are running smoothly. One of my biggest concerns as a teacher is that so most parents today seem determined to protect their children from having the experience of making mistakes to learn from. I can’t ever seem to express this concern as strongly and as clearly as I feel it.

I enjoyed reading your list this morning.

Those are some wonderful things for which to be thankful. I am so happy for you and PawPaw. I can’t wait to see your house when it is is complete. I know it will be beautiful and you will have many wonderful years to make more memories for which to be thankful.
