RT loves to get the grandgirls to say or sing things he’s taught them. So yesterday when we were on the beach, he said that anytime we saw a crab, we were supposed to yell, “SHE RISES!” (Is that from Moby Dick?) Five-year old Sunshine got right into it, and after dinner tonight as she was getting ready to take a bath, she was calling out “She Rises!” “She Rises!” all over the condo – no crabs in sight. After Sunshine and Sweet Stuff (7-years old) were in the tub, RT got Meah to go in there and say, “She Rises!” to them. Sunshine responded with her own “She rises!” but Sweet Stuff responded with a definitely exasperated voice, “That’s ANNOYING!” (The rest of us agreed with Sweet Stuff!)

This evening after the girls were bathed and in bed, I went in to talk with them and told them that first thing in the morning, I’m going to go to the beach and rent an umbrella and chair and spend most of the day on the beach. Sunshine looked at me with concern in her voice, “But you’ll make me pancakes first, won’t you?” First things first, Grandma Carol! (And of course, I WILL make her pancakes before I do anything else.)
