The Median Sib

On September 17, 2005, I started The Median Sib. It’s hard to believe it has been one full year. Here are some stats for The Median Sib’s one-year birthday:

Number of posts: 716
Number of comments: 1330
Number of hours spent writing posts: ?? (lots more than one would guess from the content)
Number of readers: it varies from 50 - 200 a day - depends on what I write - not a lot readers by many standards, but I’m fine with my numbers. I’m not out to win a popularity contest.
Most comments for one post: 164 (my first post about Mary Winkler got a lot of people riled up!)
The category I write the most about: “That’s My Life”
The second most popular category: “Politics”

Important things that have happened in my life since I started blogging (implying NO correlation between blogging and the following events): I sold my townhouse, I moved in with RT, we picked out the plans for our dream house that we hope will be a reality soon, I joined Curves, I was invited to join The Cotillion, my granddaughter started kindergarten, I celebrated my 57th birthday, RT and I went to Alaska and got married.

Congrats to me for one year of blogging, and here’s to a second year. May it be a year of love, fun, insight, and peace.

I heard someone on TV yesterday talking about how this “discord” between radical Islamists and western nations is a “clash of civilizations.” That’s impossible. There can be no clash of civilizations when radical Islamists aren’t civilized. It’s a clash between civilized nations and ignorant barbarians. And unfortunately, because most civilized people can’t fathom the warped minds of the terrorists, they’re intimidated by the ignorant barbarians.

The Pope talked about how his remarks were to open a dialogue among the religions. Diaglogue involves two people or groups. In this case, only one side is willing to talk. Radical Islamists are only willing to kill, maim and riot. You can’t talk with people whose only desire is to kill you.

The only way to deal with them is to eradicate them.

I’m sick of the Muslims’ “outrage” at any and everything that might be said or done that could possibly be construed as negative about them. Perhaps if they’d stop killing, raping, plundering, rioting, beheading, and generally being vicious animals, it might help their world image. How ANYONE could possibly want to become Muslim or continue to be a Muslim is beyond my comprehension. From everything that is done in the name of Islam, it’s nothing but a violent, hate-filled, repressive religion. And apparently it’s working for them because they’ve got the whole world afraid to say anything negative about their atrocities. And the “non-violent” or “non-extremist” Muslims are not better than the terrorists because I have yet to hear any protest or condemnation from them about what the Muslim terrorists are doing in the name of their religion. Apparently the terrorists have them cowed, too.
