There is a little girl in our church - just one year old - who has been in the hospital for over a week.  She had surgery last Tuesday - surgery on her head to enlarge it so her brain could grow.  She has had a lot of medical problems since her birth. They named her Alivia because it is a miracle she is alive. She is the youngest of three little girls in that family, and they love her so. She’s not doing well after this surgery, and she is having a difficult time.  Our church had a prayer vigil for her the day of her surgery. And tomorrow the church will gather again to pray for Alivia.

I just got a phone call from PawPaw.  His aunt, Joanne, was driving home from an errand late this afternoon when an oncoming car ran off the road, the driver over-corrected and lost control and hit Joanne’s car. She was wearing her seatbelt, but the impact was direct. They had to use the “Jaws of life” to get her out of the car.  PawPaw’s mother lives just a couple miles away, and she went to the accident scene and talked to Joanne, and then she followed the ambulance to the hospital.  When Joanne’s husband got there, she left since it looked like Joanne would be all right.  She got the phone call shortly afterwards that Joanne had died.

Life is short no matter how many years you live.  I hope you’ll pray for little Alivia that she will recover from the surgery and be able to return home to her family soon.  And pray that God will comfort Joanne’s family during this incredibly shocking and sad time.

A quick little housekeeping post:

This little slice of the blogosphere (i.e. The Median Sib) has been plagued with problems loading.  I’ve had lots of emails and comments from people telling me that this blog wouldn’t load correctly for them.  I THINK (hope! pray!) that the problems have been solved.  I’m almost certain we discovered the one little wrongly-placed phrase in the domain forwarding page that has caused the problems.  Time will tell if it did the trick.  We’re still working on getting the sidebar to align properly.  Let me know if you have problems loading TMS. 

I dream of the day when the only blogging issues I have are concerned only with writing and posting.  All these little housekeeping issues have been driving me nuts.

Each afternoon on my way home from work, I listen to the last few minutes of the Dave Ramsey show - I’m a major fan of his.   Then there’s a few minutes of news, and then there’s the Phil Valentine show.  I had never listened to Phil Valentine until his show was moved recently to the 4:00 - 7:00 time slot.  I knew he had a radio show, but it wasn’t on at a time that I could listen to it.  I actually taught his oldest son a few years ago when the son was in fifth grade.  He was in one of my math classes…which is kinda funny since I’m now a reading specialist.  But I’ve always loved math, too.   

I digress.  Back to Phil’s radio show.  Recently he has been saying that we don’t need to deport illegal immigrants.  If we de-magnetize America - stop making it so attractive to illegals - they’ll leave on their own.  He’s having a town meeting this Thursday in Franklin, Tennessee to discuss the issue.  Here is part of what he has written about the situation:

America is finally at the boiling point and it’s as much over our inaction as it is the illegal aliens’ action. Americans were paying close attention at not only the numbers but also the message. Protesters carried signs reading, ‘If you think I’m “Illegal” because I’m Mexican, learn the true history because I’m in my homeland’ and ‘North America: The Stolen Continent.”

This is the part of the story that is not being reported by the mainstream media. It’s also the part that bothers Americans the most yet they’re not sure exactly why. It’s just a gut feeling.

It’s time to trust your gut.

What all these signs and all these Mexican flags mean is the movement of Reconquista is now out in the open. Reconquista, or Reconquest, is a huge movement within the Latino community. It refers to the section of the United States taken in the Mexican-American war after Mexico invaded Texas, which had fought for and won its independence from Mexico several years prior. Apparently a significant number of Mexicans have held a grudge down through the generations and they have been plotting to take the territory back. One Mexican-American activist offered this warning: “We are reconquering Aztlan without firing a shot, house by house, block by block!” Aztlan is what we know as Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. Some hard-line reconquistas also throw in Utah, Nevada, Wyoming and Colorado.

The really scary part is they’ve convinced a good number of what the border patrol calls OTMs, or Other Than Mexicans, to join their cause. The plan is to invade America with enough Latinos to vote in their own representatives who are loyal to Mexico. That’s why there’s such a big push for election-day voter registration that Hillary Clinton is so fond of. That’s why such a stink has been made over Georgia’s law requiring photo ID in order to vote. This is all being fueled by organizations like La Raza, a racist Hispanic organization that places La Raza (The Race) above all else.
